Pre-Work

Let’s start with the prep work.

LEARN:

Having a specific financial goal in mind – even a small or simple one – will provide direction and make this program more meaningful for you. Goals are more powerful when they are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.

DO:

  1. Use the Goals Sheet. It will give you a specific reason to work on your financial goals.
  2. Imagine your goals. Read Seven Simple Savings Steps.
  3. Start gathering materials such as pay stubs and bank statements for next week’s module, “Budget Basics.”
  4. Identify a buddy. A buddy is someone who can help you stay on top of your Financial Wellbeing this month.

MORE:

Tying your goals to a personal value will make them more motivating.

Examples of personal values: health, family, retirement, vacation; think of other values that are important to you. A goal becomes powerful when stated as, “Paying off a loan helps me and my family.”
