Kudos to TFC grantee American Lung Association–MN Tobacco-Free Greater Mankato for working with the city and engaging community members to support clean indoor air!

Do you have a resource or success story (“gem”) to share for a future issue?  Submissions for each week’s Thursday publication are due by noon every Tuesday to Health.MakingitBetter@state.mn.us or grant managers for:

Revised Training & Technical Assistance Guide

You can find the latest version of the Training & Technical Assistance Guide here. Updates include:

  • BikeMN will be available to up to 30 communities across Minnesota (previously only 20)
  • Matthew Dyrdahl is no longer with MDH and has been removed as a resource, please contact Amber Dallman with active living questions
  • Bill Burleson is no longer with MDH, Pete Raeker is now listed as the communications TA contact
  • Maria Rudie is no longer with MDH, Cherylee Sherry is now listed as the health care TA contact
  • University of MN Extension is no longer a TA provider
  • The Regional Development Commissions are no longer TA providers
  • The Public Health Law Center will provide TA only on tobacco & healthy eating topics

Unfortunately, due to the cut of federal Community Transformation Grant funds, contracts with University of MN Extension and the 4 Regional Development Commissions (RDC) that supported the 4 northern Minnesota SHIP grantees implementing CTG were forced to end early. Even though MDH no longer has a contract with University of MN Extension, they are continuing to partner with MDH to facilitate the May and August 2015 Healthy Eating/Active Living regional meeting.  Extension Educators are also continuing to support the regional food networks as part of their organization’s work.  Likewise, even though MDH no longer has contracts with the 4 RDCs, they continue to be available to partner with MDH and SHIP grantees.  Please continue to contact the RDC in your area as needed to implement your SHIP strategies.
