You’re Invited!
If you are reading this newsletter, you have been identified as a Birth Registrar or someone interested in Minnesota Birth Registration. The Excellence in Birth Registration Training & Conference is an annual event especially for you. Each year, birth registrars, supervisors, and midwives from all over the state gather to learn about birth registration needs, challenges, and solutions. We hope you will join us.
This year’s Excellence in Birth Registration Conference is Thursday, May 1, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Hampton Inn Shoreview, conveniently located in the northern Twin Cities metro area at Interstate 694 & Lexington Avenue. (Confirmation and driving directions will be sent to registered participants).
The fee for the conference, lunch, breaks and all materials is $43.10 per person. Register online at www.health.state.mn.us/registration by the April 25 deadline. There will be no onsite registration.
Among many topics on the agenda, this year's conference will look at the diverse, ever-changing cultural landscape in Minnesota. Have you ever wondered why we see so many Mohammeds, Xiongs, and Hershbergers in our birth records? Or why some cultures don’t name their babies right away? Wonder how all of the medical information is used – and who is using it? Or what is happening with the eVital Records interoperability project? What’s the best way to make corrections – or how to avoid them?
We’ll cover these topics and offer helpful tips for establishing paternity in ever-changing family situations. Our popular “ask the experts” panel will be available for your questions, too. We’ll also celebrate your success with the Excellence in Birth Registration Awards presentation.
