Two errors that happen frequently are both under the Risk Factors box found on the Mother’s Medical Information I tab.
The first of these errors (see top screen shot below) pertains to the checkbox Previous preterm birth. When this box is checked, a corresponding value must be entered in either the Number of previous live births now living or the Number of previous live births now dead.
The definition of a Previous preterm birth according to the National Vital Statistics System, Guide to Completing The Facility Worksheets for the Certificate of Live Birth and Report of Fetal Death is a pregnancy terminating in a live birth of less than 37 completed weeks gestation.
The second error (see bottom screen shot below) pertains to the checkbox Other previous poor outcome (include Perinatal death, Small for Gestational Age, Intrauterine Growth Restricted Birth).
If this box is checked a value must be entered in the Number of other previous pregnancy outcomes box.
The definition of Other previous poor outcome (include Perinatal death, Small for Gestational Age, Intrauterine Growth Restricted Birth) is a pregnancy continuing into the 20th week of gestation and resulting in any of the listed outcomes:
· Perinatal death (including fetal and neonatal deaths)
· Small for gestational age
· Intrauterine-growth-restricted birth

eBirth Records Project: Update
The electronic Birth Records Project focuses on moving toward the secure electronic exchange of birth records information while capturing birth records data at the point of care or contact. The Office of the State Registrar and Office of Health Information Technology at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) provide leadership and support to the project with funding and technical assistance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).
Please consider joining our Community of Interest. This group of volunteers receives regular email updates to engage and educate members about eBirth Records progress as well as local and national interoperability news. Joining the Community of Interest does not obligate you to attend meetings or donate time or resources.
