Schools can apply for USDA funding through their state or for funds from
Fuel Up directly through the organization's website. In both cases, funding
supports the purchase of new equipment and/or the renovation/replacement of
equipment. Equipment may include large and small items, including utility carts,
utensils, large-capacity food processors, industrial scales, steamers, freezers,
etc. Infrastructure elements may include building needs that are related to physical
space, electricity, plumbing, ventilation and other remodeling needs.

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation is offering funding opportunity to further health
equity in communities across Minnesota. Healthy Communities: Health Equity in
Action provides grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 per year, and
applicants can apply for one- or two-year grants. Applications are due March 31.
Guidelines are available on the Foundation's website.
Applications which are due by 4 p.m., March 31, can be submitted through
the Foundation's online application system.
Optional workshops
will be held in Windom, St. Paul, St. Cloud, Grand Rapids and Crookston to learn more about the funding opportunity and to talk
with Foundation staff.

Tribal grantees are invited to learn the basics of the Point of Sale strategy from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 15 at the American Lung Association, 490 Concordia Ave., St. Paul. The program will review commercial tobacco prevention and control efforts, provide information on how the commercial tobacco industry tries to influences tribes, present an argument on why the retail environment matters and how point of sale impacts youth and adult tobacco use influences behaviors. This webinar which will be at 1 p.m. today (Feb. 11) will look a sustainable financing for Community Health Workers (CHWs). Speakers from state agencies in Connecticut,
Michigan, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania will provide
how they have approached sustainable information, such as the
recent preventive service rule change (440.130), managed care contracting, and

2016 Pilot Grants in Health Disparities Research are available. These grants are designed to
encourage community-initiated research and foster sustainable long-term
collaboration between community-based organizations and academic researchers on
research projects focused on reducing and eliminating health
