Share Why You Chose

October is College Knowledge month! Soon, thousands of Minnesota students will submit their first college application. Many will be the first person in their family to apply to a technical, two-year, or four-year college. To celebrate, we invite all Minnesotans to share their college story. Post a video, photo or statement on your favorite social media platform, and don’t forget to use the hashtag #MNwhyichose.

Visit the Office of Higher Education website to learn more about College Knowledge month.

Do Active Kids do Better?

Children need daily opportunities to be physically active for optimal health. But did you know that physical activity is important for effective learning as well? Research studies have found increased academic performance when students participate in school-based physical activity, including physical education. Many academic indicators are also enhanced, such as mood, attendance, and on-task behavior.

What can schools do? Schools can play a significant role in providing opportunities for students to be physically active by implementing active schools strategies into regular classroom settings. Resources like Moving Matters, a toolkit developed by the Minnesota Department of Education are available to help schools learn more.
