Commissioner Johnson reappointed to national leadership positions on information technology

Hennepin County Commissioner Randy Johnson was reappointed to a one-year term as vice chair of the National Association of Counties (NACo) information technology standing committee, chair of its geospatial information systems subcommittee, and vice chair of the Medicaid and Indigent Care subcommittee.

"I am pleased to continue in a leadership position with NACo,” said Commissioner Randy Johnson. “Information technology has great potential to serve our citizens better while keeping costs down."

Commissioner Johnson has been a longtime leader within NACo. He is a past president of NACo’s and was instrumental in establishing the information technology standing committee.  He has served in many leadership roles within NACo including the health steering committee, the telecommunications and technology steering committee and the large urban county caucus steering committee. He has been invited to testify before Congress more often than any elected county official in history.

The NACo information technology committee is responsible for helping the officers and the board of directors by providing concept, quality control and policy advice regarding information technology training, education and research activities. It provides oversight of the premier corporate member program, directs studies and special projects related to information technology, and reviews the internal information technology operations of the association.

The National Association of Counties (NACo) is the only national organization that represents county governments in the United States. Founded in 1935, NACo provides essential services to the nation’s 3,069 counties. NACo advances issues with a unified voice before the federal government, improves the public's understanding of county government, assists counties in finding and sharing innovative solutions through education and research, and provides value-added services to save counties and taxpayers money.
