News release

Marion Greene takes oath of office; will represent 3rd District on County board

Swearing in of Marion Greene

Newly elected to the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners, Marion Greene was sworn in during a private ceremony at the Government Center in Minneapolis on Wednesday afternoon. Fourth District Judge Elizabeth Cutter administered the oath of office before a small gathering of friends and co-workers.

Voters in the 3rd District chose Greene in a special election May 13.  She is filling the seat vacated in March by former Commissioner Gail Dorfman, who left the board to become executive director at St. Stephens Human Services.

Greene was sworn in following the minimum time allotted to verify election results in order to begin the work of the county as soon as possible. There will be a public ceremony in June.

Greene has appointed Ray Hoover her principal aide, and will retain Bill Fellman and Pam Fahlstrom on staff. Hoover, a St. Cloud native, is a political veteran and managed Greene's campaign this spring. Fellman is a 35-year Minneapolis resident, and was a member of Commissioner Dorfman's staff for seven years. Fahlstrom, a proud resident of Minneapolis and the 3rd District, was hired as an Administrative Assistant by Dorfman and has been with the office for six months.

Greene, of Minneapolis, is a former state representative, a healthcare finance professional and a progressive activist who lives in Minneapolis with her husband, Bart Cannon, and two stepdaughters.

The 3rd District includes parts of southwest Minneapolis and St. Louis Park.
