Absentee voting for 3rd commissioner district special election

The special election for Hennepin County’s 3rd commissioner district is Tuesday, May 13. If you can’t make it to the polls to vote, you can absentee vote between Monday, May 5 and Monday, May 12 at 5 p.m.

Recent legislation allowing voters to vote by absentee ballot for any reason is not yet in effect. Therefore, you can apply for an absentee ballot if you are unable to vote at your precinct on election day because:

  • You are absent from your precinct
  • You have an illness or disability
  • You are serving as an election judge in another precinct
  • You are prevented because of a religious discipline or religious holiday or observance
  • You are prevented by an eligible emergency declared by the governor or quarantine declared by the state or federal government

Absentee voters are encouraged to vote in person at the Hennepin County Government Center (skyway level) and Minneapolis and St. Louis Park city halls. These locations will be open extra hours on Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

For more voting information, go to www.hennepin.us/elections or call the Hennepin County Elections Division at 612-348-5151.
