Absentee voting for commissioner district 3

The special primary election for Hennepin County commissioner district 3 is Tuesday, April 29. If you can’t make it to the polls to vote in the primary, you can absentee vote between Monday, April 14 and Monday, April 28 at 5 p.m.

Recent legislation allowing voters to vote by absentee ballot for any reason is not yet in effect. Therefore, you can apply for an absentee ballot if you are unable to vote at your precinct on election day because:

  • You are absent from your precinct
  • You have an illness or disability
  • You are serving as an election judge in another precinct
  • You are prevented because of a religious discipline or religious holiday or observance
  • You are prevented by an eligible emergency declared by the governor or quarantine declared by the state or federal government

Absentee voters are encouraged to vote in person at the Hennepin County Government Center (skyway level) and Minneapolis and St. Louis Park city halls. These locations will be open extra hours on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Voters may also mail their absentee ballots, but election officials must receive ballots by election day in order for them to count.
