County Attorney’s office role in Clark death: help investigation, present to grand jury

Inquiries have been received about the role the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office in the investigation of the tragic shooting death of Jamar Clark. Our office is cooperating with the investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the FBI.

When that thorough investigation is complete, we will review the case file. At that point, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office will present the case to a grand jury for consideration of criminal charges. We will not make any further comments until after the deliberations of the grand jury are completed to ensure that the investigation will be fair, thorough and complete.

In regards to the violent shooting attack on peaceful protesters Monday night, we understand that two suspects were arrested by Minneapolis police today. When a case is presented, we will seek, as we always do, to bring the most serious felony charges that the evidence permits. But again, we cannot comment further at this time.
