State of Minnesota Veterans Day Celebration

*WEATHER UPDATE: Although the event is planned as scheduled, attendees are asked to use their best judgment for travel. All guests should put safety first. Any food not utilized at the community breakfast will be donated to the Union Gospel Mission, where MDVA has a strong partnership for our MOVE program to benefit homeless Veterans.

WHAT :

Past and current Veterans will be celebrated and honored at the official State of Minnesota Veterans Day Program Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights. The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and the Minnesota Commanders’ Task Force invite Veterans, families, elected officials, community members and the general public to attend and recognize all Veterans who have served this country. For the fifth year, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs selected the Minnesota State Veterans Day Program as an official regional site. The morning will feature a free community breakfast from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. followed by a program from 10 – 11 a.m.  New this year will be a live Oath of Enlistment Ceremony for new enlistees joining the U.S. Armed Forces and a “Holiday Mail for Heroes” station through the American Red Cross where visitors can write cards to deployed service members. Two elementary school classes from the Inver Grove Heights community will be participating in the event as well.
