Minnesota’s Veterans Homes—129 Years of Service

Minneapolis Veterans Home Historical Picture

This July marks the tremendous achievement of 129 years of exemplary service within our Minneapolis Veterans Home.

Originally an “Old Soldiers Home” built in 1887 for Veterans of the Civil War, the Veterans Home reflects how the needs of our nation’s heroes have changed, and the ways in which they remain the same.

MDVA for Your Mobile

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) website recently received a number of enhancements, including better mobile compatibility for tablets and both IOS and Android platforms.

This means users who are on-the-go can stay up-to-date with events, blogs, or get contact information for Veteran Service Officers (VSOs).

Enter the website through the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs’ Facebook or Twitter pages, or by visiting the URL directly at www.minnesotaveteran.org (no need to download an app).

Along with a new look comes an upgrade in response; whether on a desktop, tablet or mobile device, uploads will be faster and crisper.

Patio Upgrade at Luverne Home

Luverne Patio

Nestled in a friendly small town 30 miles from Sioux Falls, SD, the Minnesota Veterans Home - Luverne offers three distinct living spaces to meet each Resident's unique needs, including a special care unit for Residents with advanced dementia.

This month the Luverne Home received a gift from the 2nd District American Legion/American Legion Auxiliary (AL/ALA) Family Project; the Home received a cement pad that extends the existing picnic shelter concrete, tying it in, allowing Residents and visitors more accessibility around the Home.
