From November 2021 through June 2022, a road safety audit was conducted on Hwy 7 from Hwy 100 in St. Louis Park to Carver Co. Rd. 33 in Hollywood Township. This audit recommended that a full planning study be completed to develop a vision for future improvements. Public feedback and recommendations from the audit were incorporated into this study.
In March 2024, a study for Hwy 7 from Hennepin/Carver County line in the City of St. Bonifacius to Hopkins Crossroad in the City of Hopkins was started to evaluate the existing conditions, understand the needs of the roadway, and identify feasible alternatives for future improvements in the study area. Based on this analysis, we identified the following needs for the study area:
- Vehicle safety
- Vehicle mobility
- Walkability/bikeabilty
This study will inform the future design of a pavement resurfacing project planned for 2029 from the Hennepin/Carver County line in Saint Bonifacius to just east of Mill St. in Shorewood.
This study will continue through fall 2025. For more information, visit the Hwy 7 study webpage.
