Permit and Training Updates

2012 LSP permit sticker

2015 training registration and permit renewal

If your business received its lake service provider permit and yellow vehicle stickers in 2012, you are due to renew in 2015.

  • Only one person per business needs to attend to renew your business's permit.
  • You will be asked during registration if you want additional people named on the permit. If you want other owners or managers listed on the permit, they must also attend the training.
  • The rest of your employees only need to complete the short online training in 2015.

To Register & Renew your Permit:

  1. Register an owner or manager for training at www.mndnr.gov/lspSee the list of 30 trainings scheduled throughout Minnesota between January-May 2015
  2. Pay the $50 permit fee (credit card and check payments are accepted online)
  3. Attend training in 2015 and pass the test

dock removal

New information added to LSP listing

We have heard requests from many of you and from citizens looking for permitted LSP businesses to include some business contact information and whether or not your business offers decontamination services on the list of permitted lake service providers Web page. We will be adding business phone numbers and a check box for decontamination services to the list for 2015.

Renewing your permit in 2015? When renewing your permit, the registration system will ask you if your company offers aquatic invasive species decontamination services. Choose yes or no and that information will be added to your company's public online listing.

Don’t need to renew until 2016 or 2017? If you don’t need to renew this year but want to be listed as offering decontamination services, contact April Rust at lsp.dnr@state.mn.us or 651-259-5706.

Trailer Decal 2015

Upcoming training and decal for trailer owners

You may have heard about a new aquatic invasive species training and trailer decal required for citizens who trailer boats and water-related equipment in Minnesota. The training and trailer decal are required by Minnesota law starting July 1.

Lake service provider businesses will not need to take this new training for your business because you already attend longer, more detailed training for your permit.

  • If you are renewing your LSP permit in 2015, you will receive trailer decals for your business trailers at the regular LSP training.
  • If you don’t need to renew in 2015, the DNR will contact you next year to make sure you also receive the trailer decals you need for your business.

Visit www.trailers.mndnr.gov for more general information.
