Uponer Expanding in Apple Valley

Uponor, a multinational maker of plumbing, heating and cooling systems, is expanding its Twin Cities manufacturing operations in an $18 million project at the company’s North American headquarters in Apple Valley. DEED will assist the company with up to $1.5 million from the Minnesota Investment Fund and the Job Creation Fund.

Governor Leading Trade Mission to Mexico
Governor Dayton will lead representatives from business, education and cultural institutions on a trade mission to Mexico this summer that will focus on strengthening Minnesota exports and ties to the world’s 15th-largest economy. The Aug. 9-14 trade mission will include visits to Mexico City and Guadalajara.

Cardio3 Opening Rochester Facility
Cardio3 BioSciences, a Belgium company that develops biopharmaceutical therapies to treat heart diseases, is opening its first U.S. facility in Rochester. The company, which plans to invest $1.5 million and hire 33 workers, has been approved for $357,000 from the Minnesota Job Creation Fund.

Businesses Expanding in Bird Island, Porter
Two businesses in southwestern Minnesota are expanding with assistance from the Greater Minnesota Job Expansion Program. SMI & Hydraulics Inc. in Porter and Rural Computer Consultants Inc. in Bird Island are creating new jobs in exchange for state sales tax refunds under the DEED program.

Columbia Gear Gets Job-Training Grant
Workers at Columbia Gear Corp. in Avon will get training to update their skills under a $300,000 grant from the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership. About 175 workers will learn how to improve production processes and efficiency.

The Iron Range Job Fair will be held on Friday, March 20, at the Miner's Memorial Building in Virginia. That will be followed by the Northland Job Fair on Wednesday, April 1, at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. Mark your calendar for these two free events. Employers are hiring!
