Minnesota is expanding its role in the global market. The state has opened foreign trade offices in Brazil, Germany, and South Korea. This is good news for Minnesota’s small and midsize businesses, leading to increased access to foreign markets and more resources for doing business abroad. For inspiration, they might look to Jet Edge, a designer and manufacturer of waterjet systems for precision cutting, surface preparation, and coating removal, based in St. Michael.

Sky Tinged Red

'Sky Tinged Red,' written after World War II  by Isaia Eiger, is the first book produced by State Services for the Blind to be accepted for posting on the National Library Service’s (NLS) online download library. The account of Eiger's years as a prisoner at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps was recently translated by the author’s daughter, Dora Zaidenwebber, who is legally blind and an SSB customer. To make more titles available sooner to its patrons, NLS launched an initiative to make books produced by NLS affiliates and local radio reading services available for download. These books must meet a set of production and quality standards set by NLS. "We are very proud that our books, which are read by our excellent volunteers, meet the high technical standards of the National Library Service," said Brianna Holeman, SSB Deputy Director for Operations. “It is especially rewarding that the translation of this book was made by someone who knows the value of having access to books.” Volunteer Chris Colestock was the reader on 'Sky Tinged Red,' first recorded for broadcast on SSB’s Radio Talking Book radio reading service.
