Metro Transit

State Service for the Blind recently hosted Metro Transit Customer Advocate Douglas Cook for an informal conversation with blind, visually impaired and  DeafBlind customers who use public transit. Cook announced that soon most routes will have automatic stop announcements that will also be displayed on a screen. He heard concerns from DeafBlind riders who have experienced difficulties identifying whether a train is a Blue or Green Line train at stations where both lines share the track. Low-vision riders also recommended that Metro Transit investigate using alternative colors on screen displays, and/or find ways to cut down on screen glare. Cook said he would communicate these concerns to Metro Transit. He urged customers to call him directly at 612-349-7478 or the Metro Transit help line at 612-373-3333 with suggestions, complaints, requests for new routes, and to get detailed information for trip planning.
