Truck speeding down road

After working as a painter for more than 20 years, Tracy Robinson found himself unemployed due to cutbacks. He visited the WorkForce Center in Brainerd and received career counseling, career planning and job search resources through the WIA Dislocated Worker program. Bottom line: He needed a change of pace and a path to a career as an over-the-road truck driver. With staff help, Robinson explored training programs and financial aid packages in obtaining  CDL training and licensure.  Rural Minnesota CEP, Inc. approved WIA funding, and Robinson completed schooling at St. Cloud Technical and Community College, passed the CDL exam and joined the world of transportation professionals. Today Robinson logs miles from coast to coast as an over-the-road truck driver for South Bay Transport of Mankato. "The company has treated me very well and I am enjoying my new career," he said.
