State Sheds 4,200 Jobs in April
Minn employers shed 4,200 jobs in April, according to DEED figures. March figures were revised downward from 2,600 jobs gained to 700 jobs gained. The unemployment rate fell to a seasonally adjusted 4.7 percent in April. The state has added nearly 42,000 jobs in the past year, a growth rate of 1.5 percent, compared with a U.S. growth rate of 1.7 percent during that period. Financial activities is the only sector that lost jobs in the past year -- down 1,325 jobs.

Once he began working with a local organic farming and marketing business, his supervisors took notice of his skills immediately. Over time, Ryan was put in charge of mowing, weeding, planting, cleaning, mulch­ing, and clearing the irrigation system.
