State Adds More Jobs in December

Minnesota companies added 9,500 jobs in December and the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.6 percent, as more people joined the state's labor force and started looking for work. "December's unemployment numbers closed out a strong year for the Minnesota labor market," Commissioner Sieben said.

Comcast Staying Put in St. Paul

Comcast Corp.,which employs about 2,000 people in the Twin Cities, will keep its regional headquarters in St. Paul. The company, which had been looking at other sites, made the announcement at the State Economic Competitiveness Summit in St. Paul last week.

DEED Awards Training Grants in St. Cloud

Commissioner Sieben joined other state and local officials at a ceremony in St. Cloud last week to celebrate grants awarded under the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership. Employees at New Flyer, WFSI Inc.and Talon will learn specialized skills under the program.
