Minnesota Adds 4,300 Jobs in July Minnesota has gained 71,500 jobs over the past year, a growth rate of 2.6 percent, compared with a U.S. growth rate of 1.7 percent. Our unemployment rate is holding at a steady 5.2 percent. “On an annual basis, the Minnesota labor market is recovering at a pace we haven’t seen since the expansion of the 1990s,” said DEED Commissioner Katie Clark Sieben.
The Path to Recovery
From jobs to exports, the numbers point to a recovering economy. Shutterfly Inc.’s announcement that it plans to open a manufacturing facility that will bring about 330 jobs to Shakopee adds to the evidence that Minnesota is leaving the Great Recession behind.
