Training Opportunities

Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers (BAC) Training Center
6 week training programs:

  • Basics of the Trade for Bricklayer
  • Tile Setter

Upon successful completion of training, BAC will try to help place you with an employer. The training costs $200. There are limited scholarships available. All participants must be at least 17 years of age.

Start Dates: April 11 or June 6, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm
Registration deadline: March 28

To register, visit the BAC website and choose a trade from the menu, complete the application, and submit or call the Training Center at 763-404-8345. 

Free Hand Soldering Training
CAPI USA is offering a free training in hand soldering. Participants will earn their IPC-A and IPC-J credentials for free. Training will start at the end of March.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Minimum 5th grade English level

Free Creating IT Future’s Women-Only Class
Creating IT Futures’ IT-Ready career program will have a women-only classes this spring. IT-Ready includes an eight-week, full-time classroom training program that covers a technical computer curriculum geared toward the CompTIA A+ certification. In addition, participants learn professional skills to ensure their success for the interviewing process and on the job.

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be an American citizen or permanent resident
  • Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Live in Minneapolis

Application Deadline: March 25, 2016
Class dates: April 11th - June 3rd
Class runs Monday to Fridays from 9:15am to 3:45pm at the EMERGE Career & Technology Center

Free Employment Empowerment Classes
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is hosting three week Employment Empowerment classes that cover Networking, Job Satisfaction, Applications, Resumes, Cover and Thank you Letters, Job Search, Interview/Mock Interview and Financial Literacy.

Free Trainings with EMERGE
EMERGE is offering free trainings in property maintenance and CNC Machining.

Property Maintenance Training
This training consists of 12 weeks (8am-3pm, Mondays – Saturdays) with 10 weeks of paid internship.

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Pass a background check

This training consists of 10 months trainings. Individuals will earn 18 college credits from Hennepin Technical College and have the opportunity to earn the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials. Criminal Background is not a barrier.

  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Age 18 years or older
  • Not currently in college
  • Remain drug free throughout the program
