Johnson honors Tigers with Shining Star Award

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson recognized the Detroit Tigers organization for its support of organ, tissue and eye donation by presenting a Tigers official with a Shining Star award at a home game Aug. 15. Accepting the award was Elaine Lewis, vice president of community and public affairs.

The annual Donate Life Coalition of Michigan event at Comerica Park also brought in hundreds of donor families, recipients and those who support the cause. Several recipients joined the Johnson and Gift of Life Michigan CEO Rich Pietroski on the field as part of the pre-game ceremonies and a video message from Johnson thanking and congratulating the Tigers was played for those in attendance.

News, entertainment...even the weather!

A new experience for branch customers

MVN logo

While expanded Secretary of State services at ExpressSOS.com are steadily bringing more people online rather than in line at branch offices, sometimes visiting a branch is necessary. When that happens, make sure you take a moment to watch the newly launched Motor Vehicle Network – a free digital broadcast now running on high-definition TVs in most branch offices across the state.

Funded entirely by advertisers, the network includes a variety of 30-second segments ranging from current events, pop culture trivia and Michigan Secretary of State updates to weather forecasts. The continuously changing broadcast brings entertainment and useful news to branch customers (watch one customer's review of MVN). It’s another smart service from your Secretary of State.

From the customer service mailbag

"Just a short note to express my appreciation and compliments to the dedicated associates at the Petoskey SOS branch. I have been in this branch a number of times over the past years and each visit has provided very positive results and an experience that proved informative and enjoyable. If all of our businesses operated as efficiently and professionally as this particular branch does it would be a better world!"
                  Sincerely, Bill H.
