Michigan residents asked about everything from the state’s new license plates to election integrity issues for Secretary of State Ruth Johnson’s live interview with MLive on July 16.
Capitol Reporter Jonathan Oosting interviewed Johnson during the broadcast, using a host of questions posted on the MLive website prior to the interview. The chat was available for anyone with an Internet connection to watch as it happened.
Johnson talked about online services at ExpressSOS.com, which has now seen more than 3 million transactions as well as efforts to help Michigan’s 680,000 veterans. She also talked about steps being taken to improve election integrity with her Secure and Fair Election (SAFE) initiative.

The centerpiece of a new partnership between the Secretary of State’s office and libraries across Michigan is ExpressSOS.com, the online, no-wait Secretary of State. Through this groundbreaking alliance, local library public computer stations are identified as neighborhood access points to Secretary of State online services, allowing residents to complete common transactions such as tab renewals and changes of address in just minutes. The partnership also connects local communities to timely Secretary of State news, such as upcoming election dates, by utilizing library newsletters, websites and social media.

"YOU can make a difference - maybe it's in government or maybe it's in business. Maybe it's in your family. Maybe it’s volunteering in your community. But DO something." - Secretary Johnson to teen student legislators at Student Statesmanship Institute in Lansing on July 22.
