The annual sensation that is the North American International Auto Show will once again include the Secretary of State’s Mobile Office, ready to serve customers, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced.
Visitors to the SOS booth can also learn about ExpressSOS.com, which offers some of the Secretary of State’s most popular services online. Since its launch in 2011, the website has handled more than seven million transactions, helping to shorten lines in branch offices. It also offers a special “print-and-go” service that allows customers to print a proof-of-purchase for tabs from their computers until their tabs arrive in the mail.
The North American International Auto Show is open to the public from Jan. 16-24 at Cobo Center in Detroit. The Michigan Secretary of State display, including the full-service Mobile Office, is on the concourse near the Hall B entrance. The Mobile Office will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends; and noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays. On Sunday, Jan. 24, the office will be open until 7 p.m.

Secretary Johnson issued the following statement on Jan. 5 regarding Gov. Rick Snyder’s signing of Senate Bill 13, which eliminates straight-ticket voting in Michigan, and his statement in support of House Bill 4724, which would allow any qualified voter to cast a secure absentee ballot in person in a clerk’s office with the same ID requirements as voting at the polls on Election Day:
“First the state House voted in support, and now Gov. Snyder has gone on record in support of creating a secure absentee voting option for Michigan’s hardworking families. I strongly encourage the Legislature to finish the job for their clerks and voters who know this time-saving option will increase election integrity and help Election Day run more smoothly. The bill expands opportunities for absentee voting, which aids Election Day efficiency, while preserving and increasing the integrity and security of our elections.”
