The state of Michigan has successfully argued in court to have HP Enterprise Services turn over a computer source
code to the state of Michigan.
The ruling addressed the state’s request for an injunction to force HP to provide the code necessary to maintain and manage its ExpressSOS website, which is used by millions of Michigan residents. The larger lawsuit brought by the state for breach of the contract continues to move through the court system.
The state of Michigan terminated its contract with HP for cause
in August, and subsequently sued HP in September
after the company failed to deliver on a $49 million contract. Michigan becomes
the sixth state motor vehicle agency that no longer works with
the company, according to media reports.
The state’s focus now is to create a smooth transition away from HP, implement the requirements of
the new road funding law and seek a qualified vendor to replace HP.

The Michigan State Police fires up Operation
C.A.R.E. from Nov. 25-29 “so everyone this Thanksgiving can live to eat the
leftovers,” said Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue, head of the
Michigan State Police.
Troopers will conduct
high-visibility enforcement focusing on impaired driving, seat belt use, careless
driving and speeding.
New this year, the MSP has partnered with the
Michigan Licensed Beverage Association to distribute drink coasters with the
tag line, "Safety is Your Best Defense" to their member bars and restaurants. This partnership is an added push to
encourage responsible driving, given that the night before
Thanksgiving is a popular one to frequent bars.
