The Oakland County Health Division WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Supplemental Food Program is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the community. Breastfeeding benefits the health of the mother and infant, the community (less illness and less healthcare costs), and the environment (less use of bottles).

In support of these benefits, Oakland County’s WIC program is hosting Oakland County’s 4th Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Month Event on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Catalpa Oaks Park located in the city of Southfield at Greenfield and Catalpa roads. The goal of this activity is to increase awareness about breastfeeding and to provide families with breastfeeding support.

We are interested in partnering with your organization as an exhibitor at this event and  by donating a breastfeeding friendly item(s) for the participants.  There is no fee to reserve an exhibit table. Attendees will likely include past, present and future breastfeeding women, their friends and families; WIC families; La Leche Leagues; health/breastfeeding advocates and more! Our event has included fun activities for children, breastfeeding trivia, raffle prizes, testimonials, Zumba, involvement from community agencies, and local media coverage.

The event will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Catalpa Oaks Park located in Southfield from 10:00 a.m until 1 p.m.

Please join us in this effort to raise awareness about breastfeeding. If you are interested in participating in this event, we will reserve a table for you.  To become an exhibitor or if you have questions, please contact Dionne Moore-Smith at moore-smithd@oakgov.com or Contessa Rudolph (WIC Program Coordinator) at 248-858-5607. Looking forward to working with you and hearing from you soon.
