Job seekers and Michigan employers can connect with each other through
a state-sponsored virtual career fair on Wednesday, November 12 from 10:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m. Pure
Michigan Talent Connect's MiVirtualCareerFairs bring
together Michigan employers and talent from across the state and the globe in
an online, virtual environment. Since 2012 over 165 employers and 24,415 job
seekers have been connected through the state’s thirteen sponsored events. With
assistance from the Michigan
Works! System and event sponsor Capital Area Michigan Works! jobs
with 41 Michigan employers in varying industries will be featured, making this
event the largest to date.
"The diversity of companies participating in the
MIVirtualCareerFair shows there are jobs out there, especially
in greater Lansing," says Edythe Hatter-Williams, CEO of Capital Area
Michigan Works. "From finance to engineering to IT to healthcare and
construction, companies in a range of industries are hiring, meaning a diverse
pool of qualified candidates is needed."
During MiVirtualCareerFairs, event participants can:
- Communicate via chat
with participating employers.
- Upload, view, and
search for job postings.
- Interact with other
participants in the Networking Lounge.
- Explore career
development resources and interactive content in the Auditorium and
Resource Lounge.
- Talk with Pure
Michigan Talent Connect staff about their job search and learn about
getting the most out of MiTalent.Org.
- Out of state
candidates can connect with staff at the Hometown Michigan booth to learn
more about living, working and playing in Michigan.
- Veterans can connect
with staff at the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) booth to learn
about veterans benefits in Michigan.
- Follow and re-post
status updates to social and professional media during the live event.
- Access archived job
openings for 30 days after event.

Before the event, create or update your
account on the Pure Michigan Talent Connect site, www.MiTalent.org. Utilize
the Pure Michigan Talent Connect tools and resources to build, post, or upload
your resume and gain 24/7 exposure to additional employers seeking talent
before, during, and after the event.

Register for the
event by Wednesday, November 12, 2014. After registering for the event, log in,
update your profile, and upload your resume.
- Attend the virtual career fair on November
12th! On the day of the event, representatives from exhibiting companies will
be available virtually from 10:00am to 4:00pm to answer questions and accept
job applications. You will have access to all company postings and transcripts
of your interactions for 30 days following the event.

MCWT and its Foundation is offering one high school senior, one GET IT club
high school senior, one undergraduate-level and one graduate-level college

Are you seeking employment in a high-growth industry but lack the
skills and credentials needed for the job? Code ReConnect is a technical
training program designed to provide participants with high-level training to place
them on a path to career success. Through Automation Alley’s Technical Talent
Development Program (TTDP) – made possible by a $5 million grant from the U.S.
Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration – Automation Alley,
Kelly IT Resources, Michigan Works! Agencies of Oakland County and Oakland
Community College are partnering to offer Code ReConnect.
The
training program will run January 5 – April 2, 2015, Monday-Friday from 8:00
a.m.-5:00 p.m.
