Upcoming Veteran Hiring Events in Michigan

Great Lakes Builders Show

The Michigan Home Builders Association will be hosting the Great Lakes Builders Show at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi on February 17-18, 2016.  This is considered one of the premier trade shows for the residential construction and remodeling industry.  There is also a high demand for new employees throughout the industry.  To address this shortage of skilled workers, the MHBA, in cooperation with The Skilled to Build Michigan Foundation and the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, will be conducting a Veteran Friendly Employer Certification Workshop at 3:00 pm on February 17.  Interested employers will learn about the value of hiring a veteran, how to attract veterans to your workforce, and how to retain veteran employees.  They will also have an opportunity to earn MVAA Veteran Friendly Certification on the spot!

There will also be a veteran hiring event at the same location on February 18th  from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.  Job seekers interested in employment in the residential construction industry are welcome to attend.

Hiring our Heroes

The US Chamber of Commerce Foundation Hiring our Heroes group will be hosting a Veteran hiring event on March 5, 2016 from 10:30am – 1:30 pm at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, MI.  Hiring our Heroes is a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment opportunities.  The Chamber works with over 2,000 companies of all sizes to host these international events.  To date, over 27,000 veterans and military spouses have obtained jobs through Hiring our Heroes events.  There will be an employment workshop at 8:30 am that helps job seekers learn resume writing skills, tips for negotiating hiring events, military skills transition, and interviewing techniques.  Job seekers may click here to register for this event.


Delphi Hiring Cyber Security Engineer

Delphi is currently seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to be located in Fenton. Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Engineering secure electronic controllers and devices.
  • Testing controllers and other devices for electronic security.
  • Addressing insecurities identified in Delphi electronics and developing security protocols and standards for new controllers/devices.
  • Working with a cross-divisional team to define, develop and specify security protocols for controllers and other electronics.
  • Test electronic components for cyber security.

This position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Network or Information Security, or Computer Information Systems. Vehicle level systems experience and software/hardware reverse engineering scripting is preferred.
