Best Practice Awards

GES2 Best Practice Awards are an opportunity for the state to recognize home-grown programs that contribute to the development, attraction and retention of talent in Michigan. These awards recognize that leaders in Michigan's private, public and non-profit sectors are dedicated partners who are making a positive impact in their communities.

This competition is intended to showcase successful strategies related to talent development, attraction and retention in our state that could be replicated elsewhere. We encourage you to consider applying or sharing this solicitation with a colleague.

We are now accepting applications. The deadline to apply is January 22, 2016. Successful applicants will be notified no later than February 1.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include private, public, and non-profit organizations that can demonstrate a successful, existing program related to three categories: talent development, talent attraction, or talent retention. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a collaborative relationship with business, education and talent development partners.

Submissions will require program information that is relevant to those who may want to replicate the program, including total budget, number of people served and outcome measures that quantify success.

Additional information on eligibility criteria by category can be found within the application.

Selection Committee

The Governor's Economic & Education Summit will convene a selection committee comprised of private, public and non-profit leaders from across the state. Three finalists in each category will be selected to compete at the summit. To be eligible, all contenders must attend the full economic summit. Applicants will be judged on:

  • Adherence to eligibility criteria
  • Innovative nature of the program
  • Impact of the program on talent needs
  • Quality of the outcome data
  • Presentation of program narrative

Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency Partnering with Companies to Address Shortage of Skilled Workers
