Vote for Michigan at
SXSW! Voting closes Friday!
Film and Creative Industry Partners,
The Michigan Film Office has been approached about an exciting
opportunity to promote Michigan on an international stage during a panel at
SXSW in 2016 and we need your votes! The panel is focused on how states
continue to promote and attract productions to come to their state, in lieu of
an incentive or monetary program to leverage.
As you know, the Michigan film incentive ended last month, but
the Michigan Film Office has been hard at work on a number of new initiatives
and public/private partnerships which will be rolled out in the coming weeks
and months ahead. As the initiatives become public, we will be able to promote
them in various ways. The SXSW conference in a perfect venue and international
platform to promote Michigan as being a state that fuels the creative
economy.
The panel synopsis:
As states across the country work to attract media production
business from traditional media markets on the coasts, of state-funded grants
and tax credits are political hot-button issues. State film offices are
responsible for myriad other services beyond administering financial production
incentive programs, and have a long history of being the first point of contact
for production companies when considering taking a project on the road. This
panel explores some of the innovative tactics state film offices use, beyond
incentives, to create sustainable environments for local production
professionals and to bolster their creative economies by attracting new
talent.
The panel is currently undergoing review and part of the process
is receiving support and votes from YOU! The public vote makes up a
third of how the judges weigh the prospective panels and decide who will be
included in the final line-up. Take a few moments of your time to vote
for the Michigan Film Office to be included in this panel. Every vote
counts!
