With 102 state parks and 134 rustic state forest campgrounds, Michigan's guaranteed to have a campsite somewhere with your name on it! Many of these sites still have camping availability for Memorial Day Weekend, so click the button below to book your site and get ready to make some memories with your friends and family. If you find a new favorite campsite, we want to hear about it! Share it on social media with #MInewfavecampsite.
This Independence Day weekend (July 3-5), several Michigan state parks will offer Fireworks-Free* Fourth of July celebrations to honor veterans who may prefer a quieter holiday. These parks are located farther away from urban areas that often host large local firework displays, making them ideal camping locations for veterans and others seeking a quiet weekend. Click the link below for a full list of participating #FireworksFree4th state parks.
*Large aerial fireworks are prohibited, but please note that small novelty fireworks are still permitted in these parks.
Bloggers and vloggers, do you have a Recreation Passport? Do you use it all the time? We'd love to share your story about how you use your Recreation Passport! Maybe you're a parent who explores the outdoors with your kids, or a college student who spends weekends with friends exploring remote Michigan campsites. Those are just examples of the kinds of blogs we are looking for, but we want to hear from you! To have your blog considered, send a link to your blog to dnr-recreationpassport@michigan.gov with the subject line "Rec Passport Blogging."
Please note: this is not an employment opportunity, but participants will get the awesome recognition of being a Recreation Passport blogger, and the promotion of your blog through DNR social media!

The best things in life are free, and June 13-14 is proof! That's because it's Free Fishing and Free ORV weekend, meaning you and your family can enjoy fishing Michigan’s waters without a license (though all other rules are in place) and ride Michigan’s ORV trails without an ORV license or an ORV trail permit. With these opportunities, you have no excuse to keep your lines dry or your tires clean, so grab your gear from the garage. Michigan's woods and waters are calling!
