DEPR Staffing: Mary Macqueen is Back

Mary Macqueen has returned to her position as PHEP Section Manager following a medical leave. Mary’s first day back was May 28. 


ICS-400 – Seats Still Available

There are two seats available for the June 3-4 class, and 11 seats are still available for the June 17-18 course. Both sessions will be held at BETP in the JAR. You must register for the course through MI-TRAIN using this ICS-400 registration instruction


A Reminder to Register for the Pediatric Conference

There is still time to register and attend the upcoming pediatrics conference: Pediatric Patients: Bridging the Readiness Gaps. The conference will be held June 18, 2019, at the Lansing Center in Lansing. It will also be live streamed to the University Center in Gaylord and the Landmark Inn in Marquette.

 

This will be a dynamic conference covering many topics. It is a free conference with continuing education credits for nurses, physicians, social workers and EMS. The conference brochure is attached. 2019 Rural and Ready Conference

NACCHO: Opioid Epidemic Toolkit for Local Health Departments

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) has created a toolkit to support local opioid overdose prevention and response efforts. NACCHO is collecting resources to support local opioid overdose prevention and response efforts. This toolkit classifies resources by the following five topic areas, providing links to relevant webpages and downloads of useful resources: Monitoring and Surveillance; Prevention; Harm Reduction and Response; Linkage to Care; and Stakeholder Engagement and Community Partnerships.


Webinar – Critical Partners: Emergency Managers and Health Care Coalitions, June 7

The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) and Association of Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Professionals (AHEPP) have partnered with the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) to host a webinar that seeks to help Local and State Emergency Managers see the value behind being a driving partner in their local health care coalitions (HCCs). The webinar will take place Friday, June 7, 2019, 2:00 – 3:30 PM ET.


Focus Areas:

  • Emergency Management is defined as a core member of a successful HCC.

  • HCCs can be a central point for connecting Hospitals, EMS, Public Health, and

    other health care partners, to Emergency Management.
  • When health care networks transcend normal geographic or political

    boundaries HCCs can help them navigate the local or state emergency Management Processes.
  • HCCs can be a coordinating point for local and regional planning, training, and

    exercising prior to an event.
  • During response and recovery, an HCC can support areas such as staffing,

    situational awareness and information sharing, and resource coordination.
