DEQ to hold public hearing on Eagle Mine – Humboldt Mill permit

The DEQ today announced it will hold a public hearing on the proposed surface water discharge permit for the Eagle Mine – Humboldt Mill in Marquette County. 

The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 13, 2015, at the Westwood High School Auditorium, 300 Westwood Dr., in Ishpeming. The DEQ will begin by answering questions regarding the draft permit, followed by the public hearing. 

The DEQ will accept additional public comments on the draft permit through Jan. 16, 2015. Comments should be submitted to: Alvin Lam, Permits Section, Water Resources Division, Department of Environmental Quality, P.O. Box 30458, Lansing, Mich. 48909-7958. Copies of the draft permit and other documents are available at www.deq.state.mi.us/owis under “Permits on Public Notice.”
