DEQ Director Dan Wyant will tomorrow honor 12 elementary school students for their winning 2015 Earth Day posters.

The contest asks students in kindergarten through 5th grade statewide to design a poster representing the significance and meaning of Earth Day. This year, students submitted more than 2,800 posters. The 12 winning posters, including 1st and 2nd place from each grade, demonstrate students’ outstanding environmental awareness and stewardship.

During Earth Day, participant posters will decorate the walls of Constitution Hall in Lansing, the DEQ’s primary office building. The day’s festivities will include a ceremony to honor the 12 winners. Media interested in attending the ceremony and other Earth Day events should contact Karen Tommasulo, DEQ public information officer, at 517-284-6716 or tommasulok@michigan.gov.
