TOPIC AND SPEAKERS: The
Northern Long Eared Bat – What Proposed Listing May Mean For The Forestry
Community.
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has
proposed listing the Northern
Long-Eared Bat as Endangered under the ESA. Designation of Critical Habitat for
the bat, accompanied by possible broad seasonal restrictions on operations, has
the potential to seriously impact harvesting and other forest management
operations. Our speakers will review the proposed listing and provide a
primer on bat biology and habitat requirements. This is a serious issue
for the forestry community throughout the entire eastern U.S.
