The
SFMA is one of the preeminent destinations for those interested in exemplary
forestry in the northeast. For nigh on 30 years this northwest corner of
Baxter Park has demonstrated some of the most thoughtful and innovative
silviculture and forest management in the state of Maine. Come join us for
a busy, beautiful, and very rewarding summer season in 2015. Internships are
about learning opportunities and networking. Here at Baxter, you’ll have
the chance to rub elbows with an experienced and knowledgeable staff as well as
any number of foresters who have taken an interest in the Park and the SFMA.
While you will be pushed to contribute to the considerable workload of a
typical summer season here, you’ll also have down time and many opportunities
to explore in some of the most beautiful and rugged country in Maine and the
northeast.

Priorities
The Franklin County
Soil & Water Conservation District (FCSWCD) is inviting the public to
attend a meeting of the Franklin County USDA Local Work Group meeting on
Monday, November 17th , 10 a.m. – noon at the Wilton Town Office on
Rt. 156.
The Local Work Group
will provide recommendations for 2015 and 2016 EQIP programs to their local
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) on local natural resource
priorities and criteria for conservation activities and programs. Topics
of discussion in Franklin County will include: Ag Waste, Forestry, Pastureland
and Cropland. Other issues and areas of concern can be discussed as
well, and a list will be compiled of priorities recognized by this group.
