Harvesting to Meet Woodland Owner Goals

Agenda: The workshop will focus on ways that sustainable timber harvesting can meet a variety of landowner goals and objectives, including recreation, long-term timber value and aesthetics. There will be a strong emphasis on the visual aspects of logging. The afternoon session will include a site visit to recently logged areas on LAWPC parcels.

Beginners Christmas Tree Growing Workshop

Where: Sanford City Council Chambers, 3rd Floor Sanford City Hall
             919 Maine St. Sanford, ME

When:  10/7/14 at 9 am to 1 pm

Cost:  Free, but registration is required

Growing quality Christmas trees is a complicated business or hobby. Come learn the basics from the experts at the Maine Forest Service and Tuckaway Tree Farm. Topics will include techniques for acquiring quality growing stock, picking a good site, planting trees, fertilizing, controlling pests and diseases, shearing, and marketing. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. The workshop will include a 2 hour field session at Tuckaway Tree Farm in Lebanon, http://www.tuckawaytreefarmmaine.com/
