January is National Mentoring Month. Become a volunteer or mentor and make a positive impact in the
lives of children, youth and families in Maryland. Through MPT’s American

Revolution and the Power of Words: A Literacy Lesson

Do your students read informational text
and get stumped by words that they don’t know? In Thinkport’s
content-literacy activity “Revolution and the Power of Words,” students read
about the Russian Revolution and practice skills to determine the
meaning of unfamiliar words and phrases, including vocabulary describing
political, social and economic aspects of the revolution. (Grades 9-10)
