 County Council President George Leventhal (third from right) presented a joint proclamation to staff from the County’s departments of Fire and Rescue Service, Permitting Services and Housing and Community Affairs proclaiming the month of May as Building Safety Month. During the month of May, DPS is offering free deck inspections on existing decks and DHCA is offering free basement habitability inspections. (press release)

warming up, remember that any business wanting to use a public
sidewalk for outdoor restaurant service must get a permit from DPS. That
permit establishes conditions for the use of the right of way while protecting the public and perserving the sidewalk for pedestrian use. For instructions and other
