Empowered Women International (EWI) is selecting candidates for its Entrepreneur Fellowship for Women Program, Class of 2015. The one-year fellowship program includes:
- The Entrepreneur Training for Success Program
- Grow My Business Program
- Financial Education
- Funding for Your Business
- Business, Career and Support Services
Candidates for the fellowship are immigrant, refugee, and American-born women from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds who share a vision, passion and determination for developing a micro-enterprise.
To qualify for EWI awards scholarships low-income women entrepreneurs must attend the 3-Month Entrepreneur Training for Success.
When: Starting September 30th, 2014 until December 16th 2014

Club Friday at the Potomac CRC is for kids in grades 3-6 and although there is a full staff, parents volunteer for at least one night of the 20 Fridays it is open.
This program was created 22 years ago with the intent of maintaining a safe place for kids to be on a Friday night, to enjoy games, crafts movie nights and more. Today in its 23rd year, it is still going strong. And you are invited to come and join, bring your children!

a) Smithsonian Institution celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month - You are invited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15) with us through a series of vibrant performances, lectures, family activities and exhibitions at various museums around the Smithsonian. There are fun programs and activities for everyone! b) Somos Montgomery -In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, Somos Montgomery features diverse accomplished Latinos living and creating a positive impact in the areas of health, science, education, politics, arts and more in Montgomery County. “Somos Montgomery” is a dynamic Spanish language magazine style show focusing on relevant issues and stories to Hispanics in Montgomery. With a vibrant format Somos Montgomery presents stories that revolve around education, business and civic participation. You can head on over here to learn more, and to watch past shows.

The YMCA (in partnership with Montgomery College), invite everyone to come and usher in the fall with a family friendly fall festival. Activities will include:
- Pumpkin carving contests
- Food by Nando’s peri-peri
- Music, arts, crafts and face painting, and much more.

Save the dates for The Greater Washington Immigration Film Festival (GWIFF) featuring films telling immigrant stories promoting empathy, understanding and motivation for systemic change. The film festival stimulates public awareness and involvement in the national effort for just and equitable immigration reform in the United States.

a) Literacy Council of Montgomery County needs volunteers (LCMC)
Volunteers needed at the Literacy Council office to answer phones, greet visitors and general office support as needed. Help is needed:
Mondays from 9:00am-1:00pm
Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1:30pm-4:00pm
There are also a variety of one time volunteer opportunities available.

b) Volunteer Opportunities at Community Ministries of Rockville (CMR)
The Community Ministries of Rockville seeks to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable of Montgomery County residents by providing basic services including housing, healthcare, homecare, education, and emergency assistance, with the goal of achieving and maintaining client self-sufficiency, and advocating on their behalf.
Every year hundreds of volunteers donate thousands of hours to help CMR fulfill its mission. We need your help, just a few hours a week or a month can make a difference in someone's life. Consider volunteering for one of CMR's programs!
