Thank you to all that attended our first District Dialogue. We were joined by over 170 District 7 residents and we were able to engage in a great dialogue. We were grateful that Mayor Fischer was able to join us and provide updates on what he is working on and initiatives happening in and around the city. Louisville has great momentum.
Please find below important updates that were delivered at the meeting:
Improvements
to Warwick Park (City of St. Matthews)
- The
St. Matthews Public Works Department has installed catch basins and
underground drainage around the ball field for better drainage. The contractor has poured the concrete pad for the new playground equipment.
- The
playground equipment was purchased and the city is now waiting for the weather to cooperate for installation.
- Additional
landscaping will be added this spring.
Splash Park in Robsion Park (City of Lyndon)
- The
City of Lyndon, in partnership with District 7, is still in a planning
phase and we expect to break ground sometime this summer.
Washburn Quiet Zone
- Metro Public Works is planning to put this project out
for bid by the end of next week. Once a contractor is in place, the
construction date will be dependent on CSX.
Councilwoman Leet also gave a brief explanation of her concerns with the New VA hospital:
- There is no argument that our veterans deserve premium care at a state-of-the-art hospital
- The VA's environmental assessment fails to follow the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
- The VA is using incomplete traffic studies for its analysis
- The VA is ignoring the rules and regulations of Louisville Metro's land use and zoning requirements.
