Community Meets To Talk Issues
About 75 people gathered September 10th at the Fairdale Lions Club to talk about how we can work together toward the key goal of making our community a safe and economically strong place to live and work. Key issues we looked at included:
- Map of District 13--28,500 people (redistricted 2010)
- Current Projects in the works:
o Roundabout-- $5.5million
o Mt. Holly Sidewalk--$250k,
o Paving and sidewalk repair
- Fairdale Area Amenities/Resources:
o Fairdale Library--$2million 2 yrs old

SW Women’s Group Shares Leadership Louisville Offer
The Leadership Louisville Center has reached out to the Southwest Women’s Roundtable with a special offer. September 19th: National POW-MIA Recognition Day
The US Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office lists 1,641 missing from Vietnam War as of Sept. 1, 2014. This office continues to search, investigate and account for missing war personnel from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Cold War Era (1946-91), and Gulf Wars. The most recent recovery and burial with military honors was Sept 4, 2014 (missing since 6-5-1944 in Saipan.)

1. Alan P. Mateja USAF Major b. Jul 29, 1945 Missing Feb 1, 1980 Crash in North Vietnam
2. William P. Milliner USA Chief Warrant Ofcr b. Jun, 12, 1950 Missing Dec 6,1978 Helicopter Crash
3. Martin W. Prather USMC Lance Corporal b. Jun 12, 1947 Missing Sep 5, 1967 Small Arms Firefight
National POW-MIA Recognition Day is always the 3rd Friday in September. On this day, by law, the POW-MIA Flag should be on display at all federal facilities.

World Affairs Council Intern Opportunities
WAC is looking for bright interns and volunteers to help increase their capacity to do more. If you know of students with an interest in international affairs or areas, such as marketing, development, design, research or communications, please refer them to WAC. They offer lots of active hands-on experiences for students. Also, there is opportunity to apply for a scholarship to attend the 2015 WACA National Conference.
