Ford, UAW Announce New Jobs

Exciting news this from the Ford Louisville Assembly Plant on Fern Valley Road. The 2015 Lincoln MKC was unveiled at an August 25th  news conference with the announcement of 300 new jobs to build these gorgeous new cars! The new 300 jobs puts LAP at 4,700 employees! Ford has invested $129 million in the Lincoln MKC production line at LAP. Thanks Ford Motor Co for believing in the quality UAW workers in Louisville!!

Taylor Blvd & Bluegrass Ave. Corner To See Major Commercial Development

A developer has filed a plan for a major commercial development on the northwest corner of Taylor Boulevard and Bluegrass Avenue in southern Louisville. The site plan filed recently with the Metro Department of Planning and Design Services shows consolidation of the current 11 lots at 4152-4178 Taylor into three commercial lots.

2014 USA BMX Derby City Nationals

This weekend E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park

On August 29-31, USA BMX Derby City Nationals will be held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The event is free and open to the public; there is a cost to park.

The event is expected to attract top pros and Olympians, including Maris Strombergs, 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold medalist (Latvia) and Sam Willoughby, 2012 Olympic silver medalist (South Australia). In addition, there are expected to be more than 1,400 amateur entries ranging in age from 2 to 70+ representing 34 states. The race schedule is:

  • Friday: practice begins at 9 a.m.; racing begins at 1:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: practice begins at 9 a.m.; racing begins at 11:30 a.m.
  • Sunday: practice begins at 8 a.m.; the main event begins approximately at noon

Professional and Olympic athletes are available for interviews at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between qualifying races. To arrange an interview, please contact Craig "gOrk" Barrette at 480.768.7573 (cell) or gork@usabmx.com
