Iroquois Park Northern Overlook Reconstruction

park

Iroquois Park is the oldest of Louisville’s big 3 city parks.
The Louisville Metro Parks Department presented a design recommendation for the Northern Overlook in Iroquois Park which dates back to 1891.

Late last month, park goers were able to take a walking tour and suggest ideas for the restoration project.
On the overlook, you get great views of downtown Louisville and the rest of Jefferson County.

Iroquois Park is one of the last parks to be updated.
The idea is to improve the overlook’s sustainability and make it less prone to erosion and create a welcoming space for the public.

“They wanted the cars to be a little distance away from the actual view itself and for it to be a very enjoyable short walk to the view itself," Mike Heitz, director of Louisville Metro Parks said.

The project is estimated to cost $1 million.
