Kick the Habit, Free Program Helps Smokers Quit

If you are a smoker who wants to quit, an upcoming program at the Southwest YMCA, 2800 Fordhaven Road offers the tools and support to stop smoking for good. "Kick the Habit" is a free 13-week program that combines behavior modification counseling, nicotine gum, patches, and lozenges in a supportive group setting. The program is held on Tuesday at 6 P.M. through November. The Legal Aid Society offering free legal clinics during September. Sex Offender Registry

Currently there are 1,830 sex offenders living in the Metro area. Any offender who plead or are found guilty of the following must be placed on the Sex Offender Registry (SOR): a) any sex crime; b) if victim is under 18 and the suspect committed the following: kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, human trafficking, prostitution. To search the SOR please visit http://kspsor.state.ky.us/ and you may search by zip code or address up to 5 miles. The mapping system will give you the offender’s name, address and a hyperlink to a photo page with offense information.

For more than 30 years, the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program has helped pregnant women, new mothers and young children eat well, learn about nutrition and stay healthy. WIC provides services to pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, as well as children under the age of 5. All WIC services are free to those who qualify. WIC offers helpful nutrition information for you and your family, breastfeeding education & assistance and referrals to other health & medical services.
