Iroquois Park Northern Overlook Public Meeting for Design Presentation

The public information session held on July 15, was a great success. A special thanks to all of you that came out, or participated in the online survey. We received some wonderful feedback which is being used to help design the new look for the Northern Overlook. At this August 19th meeting, Olmstead will present the design recommendation. Gates open at 7 a.m. and exhibits open at 9 A.M.
The midway and tents close around midnight and exhibit halls close a 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday. Some areas close earlier on Sunday, August 24.

Saturday, August 16, 2014. The walk starts at 10 A.M. at the shelter near the Iroquois Amphitheater. It’s a free walking program for anyone who’s interested in taking steps to improve their health. Park Stewards Needed!

You may enjoy walking your dog in one of our beautiful Olmsted Parks, riding your bike or meeting friends there, but have you ever thought of becoming a Park Steward?  A Park Steward is a volunteer leader who receives in-depth training by Olmsted Parks Conservancy staff in order to help with park projects, volunteer events and/or community outreach.  The training program covers plant identification, best practices for invasive plant removal, proper planting techniques, the history of the Olmsted Parks, and more. 

August 19, 2014 is the start of our next Park Steward training.
