GREEN TRIANGLE UPDATES

Fourth Street along U of L to be Reconfigured

A roadway resurfacing project that will reduce vehicle collision rates and improve bicycling facilities is planned next month on Fourth Street along the University of Louisville between Cardinal Boulevard and Industry Road. Citizens and students are invited to hear details at two public meetings

  metro seal

The road will be changed from the current configuration of two automobile traveling lanes in each direction to one automobile traveling lane in each direction and a bike lane in each direction, plus dedicated right and left turn lanes at intersections. The bike lanes will have a buffer on the traffic side. This will eliminate conflict points along the route, particularly at intersections, and reduce average vehicle speed to within acceptable ranges of the posted speed limit in this area where there is heavy pedestrian traffic from U of L students and others.

The public meetings, led by Louisville Metro Public Works planners, will be held at the U of L Student Recreation Center, 2030 S. 4TH Street, Room 107 as follows:

Wednesday August 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Friday August 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
