WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?  IMAGINE THIS FOR OUR HOMETOWN.........

a young woman from Delaware is center-stage at the SuperBowl being recognized for her work with WaterStep in the city of Louisville, KY, before an audience of hundreds of millions of people around the globe.  Now that's a lot of PR for very little effort.  Let's make it happen!

ABOUT THE JEFFERSON AWARDS:

The Jefferson Awards were founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard as America’s greatest honor for public service. Over forty-one years, the Jefferson Awards has recognized and inspired a Who’s Who of American change makers as well as tens of thousands of local unsung heroes doing great works in our communities. Today, the Jefferson Awards is one of the largest multipliers of volunteerism in the country – Building a Culture of Service. Our five core principles are: Engage. Train. Recognize. Inspire. Measure Impact. The Lead360 Challenge accomplishes all of that.

The Lead360 Challenge was inspired in 2010 by the Jefferson Awards, WaysToHelp and Dave Boyer, and was originally named the Youth Service Challenge. In 2012, the Jefferson Awards became the sole activator of the program.

Responsible Recycling Event SUCCESS

Responsible Recycling event

The 9th District and the Energy Pros held our annual One Stop Drop Responsible Recycling Event last Saturday, May 10th at Louisville Water Tower Park. Despite the rainy morning conditions the skies cleared right before the event.  387 vehicles participated in the event and dropped off items to be reused or recycled. We collected a car’s worth of batteries, 200 lbs of shoes for WaterStep, Catholic Charities filled up their box truck, Habitat Restore had a half filled truck, RML Shredding filled up their truck and ECS Refining filled up two trucks with electronics to be recycled. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers from the neighborhood and St. Xavier students! We also want to thank the Louisville Water Tower Park, it served as the perfect location for this event.
